People ask me "What is the difference between tchotchke marketing and brand marketing?" Almost every company employs some form of promotional marketing. Function has replaced frivolity. Promotional products available for branding have become less novelty and more functionally oriented. A set of Swiss Army steak knives with your company logo will not be discarded. When you add a tagline like“Leading Edge Technology” and you are building your brand. Imprint a nail file and you are in tchotchke land.
Either way, you are keeping your name in front of the consumer. That’s important! Products that serve a purpose, especially retail branded items, are hot. When a company co-logos with a respected manufacturer, the value of the product rises over generic products. Tech companies are very focused on function—flash drives are currently a popular item. The question is, do you load company info into the USB made by Lexar or brand x? Associate your brand with the best and experience the power of co-branding.
