Advanced planning is important in optimizing a trade show experience. The event host will provide valuable information to assist in planning a display strategy. However, a little minor additional research will give you a greater advantage over your competition.
It's important to get the lay of the land before attending any trade show event. The location of your booth is crucial to your success. Corner booths are preferable because they are generally larger and exposed to more traffic. A corner booth is likely to be more costly and in higher demand. So, register early to secure a corner booth. If an interior booth is your only choice, select a booth that is closest to all the action. This may mean that it's near a stage or another attraction. Just stay away from your competition. It is better to be in the next aisle to mix it up and not make your visitors feel uncomfortable if they stop and vist with you instead of competing companies. Try not to be the first table upon entering. Folks need a little breather before they get intimate with the exhibitors. Vendor amenities vary widely from event to event, so it's also important to find out what supplies are available in a booth. Sometimes trade shows offer a table, tablecloth and electrical power. Make sure to find out in advance exactly what is provided. It could be nothing more than an empty space. In this case, bring signage , display and a power source to build a trade show display.
It's generally a good idea not to rely completely on the event host to provide everything. By the time you discover that something is not to your liking, it's too late to make the necessary changes.
